Double Trouble

Double and Trouble are 2 separate games with voluntarily opposed aesthetics, made to be played simultaneously by 2 players cooperating to get to the end of each game.

This was a project done in 48 hours in the context of the Epic Game Jam 2025 by a team of around 12 people, some of the team being on site and some being remote, like me.

Double and Trouble were both made in Godot, a game engine a lot of us were discovering for the first time. All of the sound design and music composition was done on Ableton Live 11.

Double is a platformer type game, where the player controls an alien lost in a human geek convention. The player needs to pass the obstacles, but will need hidden power-ups to do so. The other will give them the clues to find those power-ups.

Its cutesy upbeat atmosphere bring about nostalgic memories of old games and japanese culture.

Trouble, is an RPG Maker style game, where the player controls a human lost in an alien spaceship. The player needs to find tools and codes to unlock the doors, and will need the other player to give them hints on how or where to find them.

Its dark cold rooms seem right out of a sci fi horror movie.

The musics were the focus of this project, since the entirety of the ambiance contrast between the two games asked for 2 diametrally different compositions.

Both title screen have the same title screen, so I composed a third song that took aspects from both worlds in an mixed up altered version.

Being a game jam project, it is another one of those rush projects where the sound design might not seem like much at first due to the time constraints forcing out a lot of the integration process.

With that in mind, here are some examples of sound effects created for this pair of games.
