Look At Me!

Directed by Valentin Sourcours

I was recruted as the sound supervisor for this movie, overseeing everything related to sound from pre-production to post-production.

Reading through the script, I gathered equipement and notes on what sounds I should be focusing on.

This project was the first Horror short film I had the occasion to work on, and I was quite excited by the sound design work that it entailled.

Security cameras, monster noises, breathing, footsteps, or more abstract sounds like malefic energy, fear, altered perception of reality…

I kept all those concepts in mind and through the week of filming, we recorded all live sounds as well as additionnal foley audio that we needed with the help of my sound assistant, who was mostly assigned to holding the boom mic and helping with microphone placements.

In post-production, after the editing was done, I used Pro Tools and Ableton Live for sound editing, sound design and mixing/mastering.

Using the official musics, all the recorded sounds and some additionnal sound effects, I laced together all the elements with particular attention to stereo spatialisation.

This project was one of the most enriching experiences I’ve had, where I really felt that I could explore the possibilities of what I was capable of in sound design.
